Do Japanese dislike cinnamon?

People love cinnamon. I like cinnamon a lot, and I know American people
are crazy about cinnamon. In their country, there are many foods and
candies using cinnamon, such as warm and sweet cinnamon rolls, tasty
cinnamon raisin bread, spicy gummy candy Hot Tamales, and one of
my favorite cereals: Cinnamon Toast Crunch! See, quickly I can
enumerate all these. I noticed we don't have many cinnamon
focused foods in Japan. Americans can't believe it. Actually, when
we moved to Japan about 7 years ago, we tried to find a foods with
cinnamon, but we failed. Ray acted in surprise: "I can't
believe it! 
Why don't they have some?" when we want to eat...
Cinnamon is very tasty, but I wonder if "Japan's cinnamon
love" is not so strong...)
Recently Ray's brother told us Japanese NIKKI candy is cinnamon. I never knew what NIKKI was. I looked it up with Wikipedia, and Nikki is cinnamon. Nikki candy is almost considered a grandma's candy. I didn't think of it is something all will enjoy. After this information, we purchased Nikki candy, and yes it was indeed cinnamon. We tried some different brands of them, but as you expect, all were cinnamon taste. If you are in Japan, and wanting to have something with cinnamon, try Nikki candy

思いつくだけでも、温めたフロスティングが最高なシナモンロール、おいしいシナモンレーズンパン、ホットタマレというスパイシーなチューイングキャンディ、そして、わたしのお気に入りのひとつでもあるシナモントーストクランチというシリアル。ね、さらっとあげただけでもこんなに！ そこで、日本にはあまりシナモンを使った食べ物がないことに気づく。アメリカ人には信じられないだろう。現に7年前、わたしたちが日本に引っ越してきたときに、探してみたが見つからず、レイは「信じられなーい！どうして？」という感じだった。
（うーむ。でも、絶対にあるにちがいない。。。あ、ほら、八つ橋は？！京都土産で有名な。あれは、シナモンだよね？ うーむ。でも欲しいときにすぐに手にはいらないなー。日本人のシナモンラブは根強くないのかしら？）
最近、レイが電話で弟と話してるときに、シナモンの話になった。シナモンを使った食べ物が日本にはあまりないことを言うと、弟は「にっき飴」がシナモンの味がすると教えてくれた。「にっき飴」って、あの、おばあちゃんが好むような飴のこと？ 名前も知ってるし、見たこともあるけど、食べてみたことはなかったなー。早速、近くのスーパーで購入してみた。「あ、ほんとだ。シナモンだ。」 それから立て続けに、3、4種のにっき飴を買ってみました。当たり前？だけど、みんなシナモンでした。 日本で、手軽にシナモンの味が欲しくなったら、にっき飴、食べてみてね。

We get these at our tiny local store. This store is so tiny, if
someone else is shopping you nearly have to wait until they finish to
shop yourself! But they do have these... :-)
